Cadash by Taito Author: DJ Tigresa and MC Pantera Email: djtigresa@classicgaming.com, mcpantera@classicgaming.com Ahh! Now here is one of our earliest FAQs we made. This was made in 1989 for the Arcade but we decided to submit it for the TG-16 which the port came out in 1991 because we want to be very obsure/diverse with the systems we make FAQs for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRODUCTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Humans and demons use to share the same world, but fought endlessly. The One Who Knows All split the world in two, giving the world above to the humans. The demons resented losing the light, and plotted their revenge. Then Balrog, a powerful demon wizard, rose and promised the demons a human kingdom if he could mingle his blood with a human king. A invasion of the world above caused war and the kidnap ping of Princess Salassa. You must rescue her from Castle Cadash. Choose your character, then set out in this action-adventure with role-playing features. Fight enemies while searching for the Castle Cadash alone or with a friend. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TIPS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two characters to choose from — The Wizard or The Warrior. If you’re playing a one-player game choose The Warrior to give yourself a fighting chance. When using The Wizard, be sure to save your Magic Points for bosses, or when your Hit Points are low. As is the case for most role-playing games, the trick to Cadash is building up the strength of your characters by rais ing their levels. They gain levels by collecting expe rience, which is received from defeating enemies. There are several areas, which I will point out, where you can easily build up your character by pacing back and forth in an area. Enemies will appear at a steady pace, allowing you to build experience quickly. You’ll also build up a collection of gold in the process, allowing you to buy necessary weapons and items. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 1: Human World/Dirzar/The Castle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Talk to the townspeople for clues on your quest. They’ll often let you know where you need to go next. The first experience building area is the first battle area. After leav ing the town you’ll enter a cave where boarmen will attack. Pace back and forth while attacking each enemy. Continue doing this until you build your character to Level 6. Along with plenty of gold you’ll increase your strength, Hit Points, Magic Points and other attributes. You can continue to increase your levels, but there will be other areas like this later, and you’ll gain experience faster on tougher enemies. After climbing down the first rope head to the right immediately and climb the next rope to avoid a large rolling eyeball that appears. You don’t need to attack the eyeball — just wait for it to roll by and run to the next rope. The next enemy to appear is the spider. You must kneel and swing to hit them, preferably before they shoot a Hit Point draining web at your feet. As you’re crossing the first bridge watch for falling boulders. They fall three at a time, and the only safe way to avoid them is to walk between them. Here comes the first boss! The Slime will hop and jump, then hang from the ceiling and drop slime droplets that bounce towards you. If you’re using the Wizard, cast your spells rapidly while avoiding the slime. Use the Wall of Flame when he’s on the ground, and the Storm of Daggers when he’s hanging from the ceiling. As the Warrior you’ll have to attack him with your sword while he’s on the ground, then avoid the droplets as he hangs from the ceiling. After the battle you’ll take a safe trip to the first village, Marinade Village. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 2: Marinade Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After sleeping at the Inn to regain your Hit and Magic Points, go the the Weapons shop to buy any available weapons/shields. Then go to the Tools shop for anti dotes and herbs (plus an extra life if you have 800 gold). Once you have all of your supplies go to the Tunnel of Brick at the far right. To the right of the Tunnel of Brick entrance is a body of water. You’ll lose Hit Points if you enter it now, so head to the left. After climbing down the first rope, large stone hands will pop up out of the ground. Wait for the first hand to sink into the ground, then quickly walk past it and wait for the second hand to sink. There are three sets. The Warlaken (Kraken) is the next boss. He’s an octopus that resides below a bridge. He swings two tentacles in the air that throw deadly blobs of water (for lack of a better description). Since the blobs are randomly thrown, your best use of Hit Points is to move in and attack rapidly. As the Warrior you can attack the tentacles with your sword, but the best attack is to jump directly on top of his head with your sword aimed downward. Jump away from him after each attack. As the Wizard, keep your distance to allow ample time for defensive jumping and ducking while quickly casting spells. Upon defeating him you’ll receive the Scales of Mermaid, which will allow you to cross water safely. Go back across the bridge where you fought the Octopus and enter the door at the left. Follow the path until you see a flashing blue door, but don’t enter it! Climb the rope to the left to find a village, where you can buy new weapons and armor. Then enter the other door to rest (regain Hit and Magic Points) at the Inn, and buy four antidotes at the Tools shop. Finally, head back to the blue flashing door and enter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 3: Gnomes/Forest/Maze of Roots ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From the exit of the flashing blue door climb down to the bottom of the first vine and go left to the first door, the Grove of the Gnomes. To the top left is a Tool Shop. Talk to each gnome for clues. After exiting go left past a few tough stone creatures. The door to the left is the entrance to the Worm’s lair, the next boss. The Worm is a tough opponent, but he holds the valuable Worm’s Thread. You can only hit the Worm on his head. He’ll roll up in a ball and charge towards you, bouncing off the left wall and heading back to the right. Carefully jump over him, but don’t get too close to the wall or he’ll bounce up into you. If your playing as the Wizard use the strategy of casting spells rapidly while avoiding his attack. After defeating the Worm go back the way you came and climb up the first rope you came down. Stop halfway up and jump to the left, where you’ll use the Worm’s Thread as a rope. After following a long and winding path, with only one direction to go, you’ll reach a Gnome village with the familiar three shops. Stock up on weapons and shields, then go to the tool shop and buy a silver key for 800 gold, which opens a door to the left. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 4: The Ghost Village ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After entering the door of the Tool shop in the Gnome vifiage you’ll enter The Ghost Village. The first area of this village, in the grave yard, is an excellent opportunity for building experience (see Stage 1 tips for more information). After building to at least Level 12, head to the left to enter The Cave of Skulls. Climb down and go right, following the only possible path. To defeat the fire-breathing dragons, hit them twice and take a step back to avoid their flames, then step forward and hit them twice again. As you’re fighting the dragons you’ll walk down an incline and come to a junction with a rope leading upward, tombstones are to the left. Go left over the tombstones, then climb up to find a treasure chest with an ElIxer. Continue to the right across the bridge. Your next challenge is a room of ropes, where spinning flames can cause extensive damage to your character. Climb across to the right wall and go down, then climb down to the left until you reach the first junction to the right. Go down these ropes and stay to the left wall to find an exit, where you’ll have to leap across plat forms over a flaming pool. There are eight platforms. If you fall into the flames you’ll want to make a quick run to the nearest stairs, depending on which is closest. As you are walking in the flames you will be knocked backwards twice in a row, then given a few seconds to walk without damage. Turn just before you’re knocked backwards to be knocked into the right direction. Beyond the flame pooi is an Inn and the other usual shops. Purchase everything available, then enter the last home before the cave to receive Gina’s Charm. Enter the cave. Climb the first rope in the cave (to the right is Abel’s Dog) and enter the door at the top. As you cross the graveyard to the right watch for lightning bolts, which you must stand between to avoid damage. To the far right is Abel’s Grave, where you’ll receive Abel’s Charm. After receiving Abel’s Charm, go back the way you came and talk to Abel’s Dog. Enter the wall, where you’ll find yourself fighting the next boss, Fire Elemental. As expected, the Fire Elemental is your toughest enemy yet. Fortunately, his pattern is easy. He’ll appear just to the right of the platform you’re on, then disappear and unleash spiralling fireballs. If you’re using the Warrior, stand at the edge of the platform and swing rapidly to hit him, then avoid the fireballs. He’ll alternate between the right and left side of the platform, so be ready to attack when he appears. If you’re using the Wizard (or bet ter yet, a friend is helping with the Wizard), cast the Ice Tornado while avoid ing the fireballs. Upon defeating him you’ll receive the Magic Flute. Return to Abel’s Grave, but keep walking to the right, where you’ll form a bridge to Castle Cadash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Castle Cadash ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The interior of the castle is a maze of doors and floors. Here’s the path to follow: enter the first door, then enter the door to the left. Go right and enter the second door (with stairs). Go left to find an Elixer in a treasure chest, then return to the right. Go in the door (down stairs) and enter the door to the far left. Go left over steps and enter the next door (stairs up). Go right and enter the next door (stairs up), then go left and enter the next door. You’ll now be walking outside the castle, then you’ll see the statues swinging a ball and chain from before. Go up the next set of stairs to the right and fight the Jelly Giant, which requires only a few hits (at Level 13). Follow the next stairs up until you meet the princess. Climb down the vine to the right (no, I couldn’t figure out how to get that treasure chest floating to the right at the bottom of the vine!). Here’s a second maze of doors. Enter the first door, then go right to the first door. Go left, up the steps, and jump across to the door at the upper right (stairs up). Here you’ll have to jump to a platform that an evil tree monster currently occupies. Duck down to avoid his bullets. If you have the Wizard you can cast a spell to destroy him, then jump across. If you fall you’ll have to enter the door below and get back to this spot. Without the Wizard you’ll have to rely on fast reflexes and per fect timing. Jump at the exact moment the tree shoots a bullet, then swing your sword as you land on him. You can stand on the edge of the next platform to hit the next tree. Go down the next steps and pass the first door, then climb up over the spears to the door above. Jump across to the right (while destroying another evil tree), then enter the door at the top right (with stairs up). Here you’ll find a Gold Key. Enter the door to the left and you’ll be in a Weapons Shop. You’ll need 5800 gold pieces to buy the neces sary weapons and shields for your Warrior. There’s nothing available for the Wizard in this shop. Exit and enter the next door. Climb the steps to the right and enter the door at the top. Fall off the right side and climb the steps to another door. Fall off the right side and enter the door below, then go right to find the vine leading up to the princess. Go back to the Gold Door near the beginning of the castle. After entering the Gold Door you’ll walk down a long corridor. Fall into each hole and duck to avoid the rolling eyeballs. Climb to the top of the castle, where you’ll have to fight the Worm again near the top. Use the same strategy as before. Bairog awaits at the top for your final battle. Bairog wears a black cape and floats in the air. When he stops he’ll shoot a lightning spell that will form a ring below him. Attack him when he’s moving, then move away when he stops to avoid the light- fling spell. After a short battle he’ll transform into a dragon. Stay near his belly, attacking during any chance your given. He’ll fly into the air, then return to the ground while breathing fire. You won’t be com pletely safe near his belly, but it’s about as safe as you can get. After returning to the king you’ll have to fight Bairog one last time. He begins as the dragon this time, forming a second head just before he’s defeated. The second head spits slime, but can be avoided the same way you avoid the fire (staying near his belly). For your extremely extensive efforts you’ll receive a short ending sequence with programmer credits.
