Introduction
----------------------------
This Sega CD title is a great conversion of the laserdisc coin-op from Data
East. You’re the pilot and gunner of a well armed helicopter, and your mission
is to battle through ten stages filled with enemy choppers, tanks, missile
launchers, and more. The full motion video in Cobra Command is superb, and the
stereo sound really makes it seem like you’re in the middle of a war. You’ll
pull this game out after you’ve beaten it just to watch the opening demo
sequence.
Strategies
-----------------------------
-Set the cursor control speed to 1, the slowest, if you’re just starting out
with the game. This makes the cursor easier to control, and speed isn’t as
important as accuracy.
-Ignore the co-pilot screaming directions at you. Sometimes, he gets so caught
up in the heat of the battle that he calls out the wrong direction, or worse,
doesn’t call out directions at all. Pay attention to the arrows at the bottom of
the screen instead. Always hold the controller in the direction of the arrow
until it stops blinking. Let go too soon and you’ll crash.
-Fire your guns and missiles at the same time to avoid having to guess which
targets need to be hit by the Vulcan guns and which need to be hit by missiles.
As a general rule, helicopters and aircraft only need to be hit by guns, but
ground vehicles (such as tanks) and ground based weapons (such as cannons) need
to be hit by missiles.
Secrets

-Programming Code ----- Activate the Stage Select below, then during the game,
press A, B, and C simultaneously to call up a screen of hexadecimal code that
overlays the action.
-Training mode and Stage Select ----- Press Start at the Title Screen, then
press Up, Down, Left, Right, Right, Up. You’ll hear an explosion after the first
right, which indicates that the Training Mode is active, and after you finish
the sequence which indicates the stage select is active.
