You control the Gunstar twins (Blue and Red) as they fight through waves of enemies and a never-ending array of amazing bosses (wait ‘till you see the one at the end of Level 6!). There are four difficulty levels and infinite continues, which make the game a little too easy, but you could always not continue.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Strategies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTROLS: Press 1 and 2 to put up your guard against attacks. It doesn’t block all attacks, just some of them. Press Down and 1 to pick up an item. Press 1 and Left or Right to throw an opponent. Press Up and 2 to jump and grab a ledge, then press 2 again to pull yourself up. Press Down/Left and B or Down/Right and 2 to use a sliding attack. Press 2 twice to perform a body slam (Gunstar Red) or a jump kick (Gunstar Blue). Press 2 twice while pressing Down to perform a drop kick (Gunstar Blue only). There are four weapons in the game. You can carry two weapons at a time, and you can combine them to make ten more weapons. The Force weapon (it’s a small round item with three small arrows inside) is a beam of plasma energy. The Light ning weapon (lightning bolt) is a stream of elec tricity. The Chaser weapon (large arrow) is multiple laser darts. The Fire weapon (fireball) is a flame-thrower. Here’s a list of the combination weapons: WEAPONS = COMBINATION Force + Lightning = Rapid-Fire Lightning Force + Chaser = Chaser Force Beam Force + Fire = Exploding Fireball Force + Force = Double Fireball Fire + Chaser = Chaser Fireball Fire + Lightning = Lightning Saber Fire + Fire = Ultra Flamethrower Chaser + Lightning = Chaser Lightning Chaser + Chaser = Star Chaser Lightning + Lightning = Mega Bolt Our favorite weapon is the Chaser Lightning; the Chaser is a great weapon against weaker enemies, and the Chaser Lightning is perfect against bosses, since it does damage as long as you keep holding down the 1 button. Experiment to figure out which weapons you like the best. The number of enemies that appear in the game depends on the difficulty level. On the Easy mode, for example, some bosses have fewer attacks. We played through the game on the Normal mode, so there will be some slight differences depending on the difficulty level you’re playing on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 1: Ancient Ruins ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the start of the level, you see several soldiers attacking a house. Shoot the soldiers and the house to blow them up. Walk to the right and shoot like crazy as you go to hit the attacking hordes. A weapon- dropping robot, called an Electronic Duck, flies onto the screen. Shoot it and grab the weapon if you need it. You’ll eventually run into a red robot that’s stronger than a normal soldier. Destroy it and pick up the Vitality-Up heart for 15 Vitality points. Right after the red soldier is a boss, Papaya Dance. It’s a huge stalk in the middle of the screen that shoots spores and giant glowing balls onto the ground. Avoid the spores, because you can’t shoot them. When a glowing ball hits the ground, it turns into a caterpillar that starts crawling at you. Shoot the caterpillar and then start shooting the boss again. There’s an Electronic Duck right after Papaya Dance. Shoot it and keep going right until you reach a pyramid with seven flying soldiers who take off into the air. (An infinite number of soldiers attack you on the way up, though.) There are two Electronic Ducks on the way up the pyramid. The first one drops a weapon, and the second one drops a Vitality-Up. Wait until the Ducks are on the far left before shooting them to make the items easier to pick up. You also have to climb up the pyramid slowly or the Ducks will be too low on the screen. After the second Duck, jump quickly to the top of the pyramid and the next boss, Bravoo Man. Bravoo Man is a giant block man that walks back and forth across the screen. He has a variety of attacks that he uses if he gets you pinned on the side of the screen. He also has a flying attack where he flies straight across the screen and spins his arms. Try to defeat Bravoo before he uses this attack, or he’ll regain all of his energy! When Bravoo gets close to you, Jump off the wall and over Bravoo, then run to the other side of the screen. Keep shooting until Bravoo blows up. After you beat Bravoo, the ground collapses. Steer to the left as you fall—if you’re too far to the right, you’ll fall off the screen. You’ll start sliding down the pyramid’s other side. Stay low on the screen and shoot up and left to hit the attacking so! diers. Most of the soldiers just bounce onto the screen, but a few of them slide onto the screen and shoot lasers. (You’ll see these guys sliding up the pyramid just before they attack.) These soldiers take several hits, so you’ll need to jump over the lasers. When you reach the bottom of the pyramid, walk right and shoot the Electronic Duck. Take the weapon if you need it and continue going right into an area with giant robotic arms and beehives. Just keep running to the right to avoid all this stuff, stopping only to shoot the Electronic Ducks for items. Three soldiers attack you at the end of the area. Get them all to fight the boss. Pinky Roader has two attacks: Hitman Shot and Iron Knuckle. The Hitman Shot is when the Roader extends its arm with a “hitman” inside that shoots lasers at you. Avoid the lasers or shoot them out of the air with a powerful weapon. The Iron Knuckle is a giant spiked ball that tries to smash into you. Shoot the Knuckle to keep it away from you. The Roader also lobs grenades at you (shoot them) and walks back and forth on the screen. Jump over it when it gets too close and runs to the other side of the screen. Also try jumping onto the Roader and shooting it while you stand on it! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 2: Underground Mine ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- During this entire stage, you can press C twice to jump to the opposite wall. This is a skill you’ll need to use frequently against the final boss, so practice it during the start of the stage. Keep moving back and forth and shooting to hit your enemies and avoid weapons fire. Some ene mies will lob grenades at you from the roof if you don’t shoot them quickly enough. Shoot down the two Electronic Ducks just before the train comes onto the screen. You can stay on the top or bottom of the mine, because the train won’t hit you. Shoot the three soldiers in the train and you’ll start going downward in the mine. The biggest danger in this area of the mine are the laser robots that move up the screen when a laser beam bouncing between them. Shoot either one of the robots to destroy it and knock out the laser beam. After you eliminate the sleeping soldiers in the train, you’ll start going sideways in the mine again. Shoot two more Electronic Ducks and a much bigger train will come onto the screen. This train has three groups of soldiers inside. Shoot all three groups and the train starts exploding. You’ll also get a peek at General Red, who looks amazingly like M. Bison from Street Fighter II After moving off the left side of the screen, the train comes back on, and General Red starts tossing soldiers out of the train. These guys don’t do much damage even if they hit you, so stay on the far left and shoot them as they come out. The train eventually explodes. Shoot the Electronic Duck and get ready to fight the final boss, Seven Force. Seven Force has seven dif ferent attack forms, but he’ll only use five of them (even less if you’re playing on the Easy mode). The attack forms are: Soldier Force, Tails Force, Tiger Force, Eagle Force, Blaster Force, Urchin Force, and Crab Force. Soldier Force: Stay in the upper-right corner of the Gunstar Heroes screen and shoot while you wait for the Soldier to attack. He’ll do one of two things: jump into the air and prepare for an Arm Boomerang, or aim his arm at you and prepare for the Arm Vortex. If he jumps into the air, wait until he throws the Boomerangs, then jump to the lower-right corner. When the arms fly back to the left, jump into the upper-right corner again. If he’s aiming his arm at you, wait for the arm to shoot at you, then jump into the lower-right corner, then jump back to the upper-right. It’s real ly easy to dodge both attacks. Tiger Force: Stay at the top of screen. When the Tiger uses its gun- sight to aim at you, keep moving so that it doesn’t get a lock. Eagle Force: When the Eagle starts moving up the screen, jump onto the side where the Eagle’s head is, then wait to scoot past its razor- sharp feathers. Otherwise, just avoid the Eagle and keep firing! Tails Force: This spinning robot has two attacks. The first attack is when it fires a laser cannon at you; move into the lower-left corner to avoid the bullets. The second attack is when the robot spins around in a circle and tries to lash you with its tail; just stay away from the robot and you won’t be close enough to get hit by the attack. Crab Force: This is a huge red ship on the left side of the screen. It attacks by shooting small red walls and large glowing balls at you. The red walls expand into walls that stretch almost all the way across the screen, so you must quickly jump to the oppo site side of the screen before you slam into the wall. There’s also a third attack where the Crab shoots balls across the top and bottom of the screen. Use a regular jump to leap over the balls. Urchin Force: This is a huge spinning spike wheel. Always stay on the opposite side of the screen from the Urchin. If it’s in the upper-left corner, you should stay in the lower- right corner, and vice versa. The Urchin bounces back and forth and then spins rapidly before mov ing to the other side of the screen. Jump to the other side of the screen to avoid the Urchin. When the Urchin has 1500 or less energy left, it moves into the middle of the screen and starts shooting plasma balls. When the wheel stops spin ning, move to where the plasma balls aren’t going to shoot! Blaster Force: Stay on the far left side of the screen, in the upper-left corner, and wait for the gun to start shooting. The Blaster always shoots exactly where you are, so jump to the opposite corner of the screen every time it shoots to dodge the bullets. The Blaster will have to reload after every eight shots, so keep shooting while it reloads. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 3: Flying Battleship ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the start of the stage, the ship takes off. Jump up the platforms on the left side of the screen, shooting upward to hit attackers. Keep jumping up until you reach the area above Captain Orange. Jump onto that area of the battleship and you’ll be attacked by flying sol diers and grenades. Shoot the soldiers and dodge the grenades. A few of the fly ing soldiers drop down onto the battleship, so shoot them, too. Even tually, the battleship flies off the screen and you start the next part of the stage. A flying soldier in yel low armor attacks you immediately; defeat him for a Vitality-Up item. Go to the right to find five pods with power-ups inside. Take them if you need them and go right to encounter the first boss, Swapping Reg. Do not get trapped under Reg’s legs or you’ll be trapped. Concentrate your weapon fire at the top of Reg to destroy it. The best way to attack Reg is from the cable at the top of the screen. You can jump to this cable by jumping from the last weapon pod up to the cable. After you beat Reg, go right. Two soldiers attack you in tall robotic cranes. Destroy the cranes for two Vitality-Up items. Walk right and jump onto the small hovercra.ft to encounter General Red (the M. Bison look-alike from Stage 2). He takes off and attacks by dropping grenades at you. Shoot him and avoid the grenades. When General Red is beaten, Captain Orange jumps onto the hovercraft and attacks. Yikes! Orange has three attacks. The Rotor Press is when Orange jumps onto the rotor blade and spins around, then jumps off and slams into you. Shoot Orange when he’s spinning around, then run away when he starts dropping off the rotor blade. The Hard Shoulder is when Orange slams into you with his shoulder; press Down on the control pad and C to swing to the bottom of the wing and avoid the attack. Don’t jump or you’ll hit the rotor blade and take damage. The Break Wind is when a stream of fire runs across the wing of the ship; dodge it the same way you dodged the Hard Shoulder. If you throw Orange off the hovercraft, he’ll jump back on and try to crush you like the Rotor Press, so watch out. This is the toughest boss in the first four stages, so just keep shooting and keep fighting until you win. Lucky you have infinite continues, huh? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 4: Strange Fortress and Dice Palace ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the start of the level is an Electronic Duck. Wait until the Duck is over you before you shoot it, otherwise the power-up item might drop into the hole at the bottom of the screen, Speaking of which, press C twice to jump over the hole or you might fall in. There’s a boss ship on the way to the Dice Palace that fires a laser cannons to the left. Stay behind the ship, on the right side of the screen, to avoid the cannon. When you reach the door to the Dice Palace, a black robot drops onto the screen and attacks. He throws grenades and is very strong, so shoot him from a distance and defeat him. Pick up the Vitality- Up and go through the door. Grab the die and throw it to the side or straight down to roll it. You’ll always roll a 1, 2, or 3. There’s no way to tell what you’re going to roll; it’s pure luck. We’ve num bered each square on the “board” and explained each square in the following section. Square 1: Valvallon. A giant golden snake that swirls around the screen above you. When the snake starts moving in a circle, it’s preparing to shoot down at you. Wait for Valvalion to dive and then slide or run away from it. When Valvalion starts moving to the right, it’s about to move along the ground. There are safe spots on the ground where the snake won’t touch, so move onto a spot and keep moving the snake while it’s above you. Square 2: Happy Item Room. Four items on the ground: Force, Lightning, Chaser, Vitality-Up. Square 3: Tlmeron. A large flying object that counts from 0 to 10 seconds and drops bombs on the ground. When the clock hits 10, Timeron starts sucking the bombs back into itself. Lure Timeron onto one side of the screen while it drops bombs, then move to the other side of the screen and shoot Timeron while it picks up the bombs. This is an easy boss as long as you remember the order in which the bombs were dropped (so you know when they’re going to explode). Square 4: Rush And Go! Every time you punch the walls, they change formation. Climb to the top of the screen, then head to the goal on the right. Not too easy and not too exciting either. Square 5: MInion Soldier. This little jerk is a tiny soldier who runs at you and tries to grab and throw you. If you’re far away from the Minion Soldier, he might shoot star bolts at you (duck underneath the bolts) or split into a group of soldiers. He can jump over any slide attack and he can also block jump kicks. The best strategy is to jump over him whenev er he gets close and keep shooting him from far away square 6: Melon Bread. A weird flying face. Very easy to beat; just shoot the hell out of it with any weapon. If you don’t destroy Melon Bread fast enough, he’ll move down the screen and smell you (?), then move back up the screen and drop a single bomb at you. Square 7: Destroy! Now this is fun. Shoot the ship in the middle of the screen to destroy it as fast as pos sible. Also make sure to shoot the box on the left side of the screen to uncover a Vitality-Up item. Square 8: Pit. Four red spheres (two in Easy mode) bounce around the screen while a wall moves left and right. You can run under or jump over the wall, but you might get crushed. It’s best to keep moving under the wall without letting it push you to the side of the screen. Slide under the wall so you don’t get crushed. Square 9: Rush and Go! There are three soldiers in this mini-maze. The soldiers can hit you through the walls, but you can hit them, too, so blast ‘em and get to the goal! Square 10: Happy Item Room. Four items on the ground: Fire, Force, Lightning, Vitality-Up. Square 11: Phantom. A gray robot about your size that attacks by jump kicking and throwing grenades at you. This is pretty easy as long as you jump over the grenade explosions. Don’t attack the Phantom from too far away or you won’t be able to pick up the Vitality-Up he leaves behind before the screen fades out and you return to the Dice Palace. Square 12: Vortex Base. The weak spot is the “base” at the bottom and middle of the screen. Climb down the ledges and shoot the base. When the globes blink, a laser will shoot out of the base and bounce from globe to globe in the order that they blinked. Move to a spot where the lasers won’t hit you as they bounce around the globes. Square 13: Curry and Rice. Very tough, because you can’t use a weapon against it. Curry and Rice can block any attack, but your best strategy is to constantly use jump kicks, which seem to get through his defense most of the time. You can also try slide attacks and throw ing attacks, but the jump kick works best. Square 14: Abarenbou Gel. A weird name for a weird boss. The Gel starts out on the left side of the screen and slowly jumps to the right while dropping fireballs onto the ground. Stay on the right side of the screen and jump over the Gel only when it’s about to jump into you. Square 15: Super Gondola. The cannons at the top of the screen each have a different attack. One of them drops grenades to blow holes in the platform you’re standing on. Another one shoots lasers in three directions. Another one drops fire. Yet another shoots a giant laser beam. Keep shooting up at the cannons to destroy them. Watch out for the laser cannon, because it tracks you on the screen. You can also shoot the grenades. Square 16: Happy Item Room. Tracer, Fire, and two Vitality-Ups. Square 17: The Way Back. This sends you back to the START square. Fortunately, this square goes to CLEAR after you hit it once. Square 18: The final boss, Black Beat Stepper. It moves around the screen, rolls a die, and then uses one of four attacks, The red attack is a stream of fire that circles around the edge of the screen to each of the red areas on the wall. The green attack is a stream of lasers that fire across the middle of the screen. Stay in the lower- left or lower-right corner to avoid the lasers. The blue attack is a group of grenades that come out of the blue areas on the walls and explode. Stay in the middle of the screen to avoid the explosions. The yellow attack is a stream of balls that bounce along the orange areas on the walls. Stay in the lower-left or lower-right corner. When the Black Beat Stepper is destroyed, Black will hold up and throw what looks like a gem, but it’s actually a grenade. Stay on the left side of the screen when the grenade explodes, then shoot Black to make him throw the real gem to you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 5: Destroy Everything ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There’s an Electronic Duck right at the start. Blast it and take the weapon item if you need it, then go to the right. There are absolutely loads of attackers to blast through, so take it slow and keep firing. Eventually, you’ll reach two crates on the ground. Shoot the crate on the left until it blows up and reveals a Vitality-Up item. Remember to shoot open all of the crates in this stage for goodies. Keep going right until a flying saucer attacks you from above. Jump kick the flying saucer out of the air and go right until you reach a big pile of four crates. Kick through the crates or blast them away to find a Vitality-Up item. Keep going right to a red boss robot. Destroy the robot for another Vitality- Up. After the red robot is a flying robot, then a series of single crates on the ground with Vitality-Ups in them. There’s another red robot after the crates. From here, it’s just the same old stuff until you encounter a walker robot that marches onto the right side of the screen. There are six walkers between you and the final boss. Don’t move too fast to the right or you’ll run into the walkers and take big dam age. The first few walkers are short, but the final ones are tall. The final boss seems to be the Final Great Soldier, but General Red throws him off the screen and decides to fight you him self. (Notice that the game calls General Red by the name ‘Smash Daisaku’?) General Red attacks by flying around the screen and dropping grenades. He also has a charge attack when he shoots across the bottom of the screen. Jump over Red when he uses the charge attack and jump away from the grenades he drops at you. When Red runs out of energy, he drops to the ground and uses three new attacks. He’ll shoot at you with a gun, either a slow fireball that follows you (jump over it at the last moment) or a criss-cross beam (move between the beams when they cross away from each other). When Red gets close, he uses a long jump kick. It’s very hard to avoid being hit by the criss-cross beam, but it’s easy to avoid the kick as long as you jump over Red when he gets close. This’ll be a tough battle—the toughest in the game so far—but you gotta beat him to free Yellow and move onto the next stage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 6: Empire's Spacecraft ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of a sudden, you’re playing a shoot-’em-up! Use the C button to quickly “warp” the ship around the screen and the B button to fire. There’s an astronaut holding a weapon at the start of the stage, so shoot him and take the power-up if you need it. (Get two Chaser weapons if possible, because the Star Chaser makes this stage much easier.) Timeron is the first boss. The longer you last with out destroying Timeron, the more points you score. It’s pretty boring to dodge the bullets, so you may just want to finish off Timeron quickly and move on. There’s a field of asteroids after Timeron, along with a shooting spaceship on the left side of the screen. The spaceship blows up into bullets, so watch out. When the screen starts scrolling left, you’ll be shot at by laser beams. Move to the far right and dodge the beams until the moving red beams appear. Move through the red beams and you’ll get a much-needed Vitality-Up item. The 1000MM Gun is the next boss. It shoots large bullets at you, and some of them explode into eight pieces. Stay far away from the bullets and keep plugging the Gun until it blows up. (This is all pretty easy.) A group of very fast robots attack from the left after you destroy the Gun. They home in on you after moving above or below you. If you have the Star Chaser, this is easy; if you don’t, it’s not. When you reach the bow of the ship, the powerful Seven Force (remember him from Stage 2?) appears to attack. Depending on his form, he can: shoot three beams across the screen (dodge them), fly around the screen and shoot lasers at you (keep circling away from him), shoot at you as the gun (keep moving), or shoot at you as the wheel (avoid the lasers). The only really dangerous forms are the Crab Force and the Eagle Force, so keep shooting and keep moving. Then 5 force is defeated, you appear inside the spaceship. There’s a flying robot (and tough blue sol&ers) inside th ship. Keep going to the right arid shoot the Electronic Duck for a Vitality- Up item. Go through the door to battle against the Core Guard System. The Core Guard has three attacks: Unit of the Hammer, Unit of the Dragon, and Unit of the Runner. The Hammer is the first attack. Jump over the Hammer when it spins out at you and shoot the robots above you. When the Hammer stops spinning, you’ll have time to shoot it before it starts spinning again. Eventually, the Hammer stops spinning and starts trying to pound you. Use your slide move to slide away from the Hammer just before it hits you. This is the only way to not get hit. The Dragon is a group of swirling blue balls that shoot slow but powerful plasma clouds at you. As long as you stay away from the Dragon when it’s moving around in the foreground, you’ll be able to dodge the clouds. When you defeat the Dragon, the Core starts shooting out exploding robots. Don’t get hit by the explosions or you take damage. The Runner is an amazing-looking boss that runs into the foreground, winds up its arm, and throws a plasma ball at you, then runs into the background. Sometimes, the ball goes into the air, and sometimes it goes along the ground. Jump over it if it goes along the ground. Stay on the far left side of the screen; don’t get close to the Runner or you’ll get hit by its am as it winds up. Blow up the Runner to finish the stage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 7: The Final Battle ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You get to watch the action in this stage from the view screen of Colonel Red! Walk to the right and blow open the first two crates for weapons, then shoot through the stack of crates. Keep going right to battle the first boss, Duck Batallion. The Batallion can shoot lasers rapidly (duck under them) or charge at you (quickly jump off the wall and over the Batallion). Try to get on the right side of the Batallion, since it can only shoot to the left. When you destroy the Batallion, one of the drivers picks up a big gun and attacks you himself. The best tactic against this guy is to jump at him and throw him without giving him a chance to jump and shoot you. Once you’ve beaten the bad guy, go to the right. Climb across the ledges and watch out for the plasma balls that periodi cally fly from right to left across the middle of the screen. There’s a crate with a Vitality-Up item about halfway through the ledges. At the end of the ledges, you have to jump up several ledges. Shoot the cannons on the right wall as you jump upward. When you reach the top, walk right until you reach the next boss, Pink Lobster. Pink Lobster has three attacks: Slash Chopper, Slash Nipper, and Bubble Bomb. The Chopper is a close-range claw attack. So is the Nipper. The Bubble Bomb is a barrage of bubbles that slam you into the roof and cause lots of damage. You can destroy the bubbles with your weapon if you shoot fast enough! After doing some damage to the Lobster, it will stay on the right side of the screen and use the Bubble Bomb when you get close. Move to the right until it shoots bubbles, then move left to avoid the bubbles, then move right and shoot the Lobster before it shoots more bubbles. Repeat this pattern until you destroy it. From here, go to the right and shoot the tiny cannons, then go right until you’re attacked by General Orange. The General has several nasty attacks. If he’s on the top ledge and you’re on the bottom, he unleashes a stream of fire across the bottom ledge to force you to the top. If you’re both on the top or bottom ledge, Orange can rush at you very fast (quickly jump or drop to the other ledge!) or grab and body-slam you if you get too close. And if you’re on the top and he’s on the bottom, he runs underneath you and shoots a laser beam straight up. The best strategy is to stay on the top ledge while Orange is on the bottom. Keep shooting him until he gets close to you, then jump over his laser beam and run to the other side of the screen. Once you’ve done enough damage, Orange gets aggressive and starts chasing you constantly. Keep running around the screen in a counter-clockwise pattern, shooting until Orange finally kicks the bucket. After Orange is beaten, run to the right and shoot the tiny cannons, then destroy the crate and take the Vitality-Up Item. Run right to fight Black Fly. Black Fly has two attacks: Psychic Gambit and Shadow Hurricane. Black Fly only uses the Gambit at first, dropping twirling energy balls down at you. You can destroy the energy balls with the Chaser Lightning or another powerful weapon; otherwise, you have to avoid the energy balls as best you can. When the Fly is low on energy, it starts using the Shadow Hurricane, which is a triple energy beam that slowly twirls left or right. Move in the same direc tion as the energy beam and shoot the Fly. It does plenty of damage, so don’t screw up! When you destroy Black Fly, you reach the bottom of the ship. Walk right to fight the powerful Green. He can block your wea pons, so the only way to hit him is to jump up and down between the ledges to trick him into jumping and letting down his guard. After taking some damage, Green will start throwing stars at you and also try to grab and throw you. Avoid the stars and keep shooting. When Green is almost out of energy, he stops throwing stars and keeps running at you constantly. Stay away from him and keep shooting to finish him off. Run through the door to enter the room with the view screen. After a short sequence in which the four gems fry the bad guy, run to the right and through the door to battle the final boss! There are three weapons and a Vitality-Up item on the ground; take what you need and get ready to fight Golden Silver. The four gems circle the screen during your fight against Silver, and you want to hit them with your weapons to cause damage to Silver. Silver has a variety of attacks. He shoots walls of fire along the ground (jump over them). He charges and punches you with amazing speed. He turns invisible (!) and charges you. He shoots five explosions out of his fingertips. In short, he’s a killing machine! The smartest strategy you can use is to stay as far away from Silver as possible—if he’s on the right, stay on the left, and vice versa—and just keep blasting. If he’s getting close to you, jump off the wall and over him. If he turns invisible, he’s going to charge, so jump off the wall to avoid him. Keep shooting and try not to get hit too much. Once Silver is running low on energy, he stops attacking you and uses one of the gems to attack you instead. You might get attacked by a shooting gem; it’s pretty easy to dodge the shots. You might get attacked by a fireball “tail”; slide under the tail when it swirls upward and shoot it from behind. Destroy the jewels to win the game and get a decent ending sequence, followed by some programmer credits.
