The Sega CD gets a chance to show some of its powers with this excellent interactive movie. Night Trap is a spoof of many popular horror films from the past. More than that, it’s a new concept in video games. As a member of SCAT. (Sega Control Attack Team), your mission is to protect the lives of six nubile young teens staying inside the house of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Martin, a house where five young girls have already disappeared. (One of the girls is the star of Diff rent Strokes and surveillance cameras, Dana Plato.) You control eight hidden cameras located in seven rooms of the house (and in the driveway), as well as traps within those rooms. Use the traps to snare deadly creatures called Augers before they get to the girls. Keep everyone alive long enough and you’ll learn the Martins’ evil secret.... Strategies The most fun you can have playing Night Trap is by simply scanning around through the rooms until you find something happening, then casually eavesdrop on the conversation. You can also switch between rooms to follow charac ters as they, for instance, leave the Kitchen and enter the Entry Way. The only problem with eavesdropping is you’ll never finish the game that way. To perfectly finish the game you must have a perfect score, with both the number of Captured and number of Possible being the same. If you miss even one Auger, you won’t receive the perfect ending. To catch all 95 Augers, you’ll need to make a timeline of events: a list containing the time, room, and number of Augers to catch at each moment. If you miss an Auger, you’ll hear a distinctive beep sound. The moment you hear the beep, quickly scan the various rooms to see if you can find the Auger you missed, then make a note of the time and room so you can be sure to catch him next time. There are also a few situ ations where you must protect one of the girls, or trap two Augers in the same room, one after the other. The best way to trigger the traps is to press and hold the B button as soon as the bar goes into the red. Don’t press too early or you won’t activate the trap, even if the bar turns red. Release the B button when the Captured counter starts blinking, then press Start to pause the game and call up the floorplan. You must use the floorplan (which pauses the clock) to have enough time to capture all the Augers. Perfect Game Timeline (95 out of 95) The following is the timeline for a perfect score and the “perfect” ending. The ironic part is many of the “bad” endings are better than the perfect one. The highlight of this scene has to be when Megan dances around with the tennis racket and lip-synchs the Night Trap theme song. 9:35 Bedroom: Kelly chats with Sarah. 10:00 Bathroom: Megan describes the horror of cosmetic testing on lab rats. 10:30 Hall 2: The girls go mental over the fact that someone is at the door. 12:10 Bathroom: Lisa freshens up in her teddy while a pervert Auger scopes her out from the shower. The best display of flesh in the game, by far. 14:50 Entry Way: The Auger gets fried by Weird Eddie’s laser gun. 15:00 Bathroom and Driveway: Kelly communicates with Mike, one of the SCAT agents. Keep watching the Driveway, ‘cause Mike gets wasted before long. 15:15 Kitchen: One of the girls finds out that those popsicles in the fridge aren’t really cherry flavored--ewww! 20:15 Driveway: An Auger gets frazzed (then inspected) by SCAT.
