Game will not require DirecX 10 for maximum graphics settings. Sequel dependant on this game's market performance.
New details on Crytek's followup to the critically acclaimed 2007 shooter Crysis have emerged via a preview at Czech gaming website Tiscali. According to the preview, the game starts off with Psycho parting ways with our previous hero, Nomad in the storyline... and follows his side of adventures on the other side of the island throughout the game.
Crysis Warhead vows to ditch the latter linear levels (such as the alien space ship) from the original game and offers even more open-ended sandbox gameplay, which is supposed to clock in between 8 to 10 hours.
In the gameplay department, the Nanosuit mechanics are intact, with a brand new 'surprise' gameplay feature promised later. At least two new weapons:a grenade launcher and dual SMG's... and a number of vehicles, including a hovercraft will be available in the game.
In multiplayer, there will be a brand new team based mode that won't be as confusing and complex as that found in the original game. The game will also be fleshing out the storyline as well, with dialogues being written by Bioshock writer Susan O'Connor.
As for its universally lauded visuals, Crytek claims that the game will run better than the original on the same hardware and that the DirectX 10 API will not be required for maximum details in the graphics settings. As previously stated by Cevat Yerli, the game can run maxed out on a $630 machine. The game will be stand-alone, and will not require the original to be installed. A sequel is being planned, but will only rely on Warhead's market performance to be given a green flag. Stay tuned for more info. Source
